Quick Tips

Using the Register

 

The Registers option on the Transactions menu (shown below) is a fast and easy way to review and/or modify any kind of transaction within the Point2 system including: expenses, deposits, journal entries, resident adjustments, NSFs and more. These selections can also be filtered in a variety of ways (bank account, category, resident, property, vendor/owner) and narrowed further by date ranges. You can also slice your selection by property or category.

By the way, don’t let the Apply Prepayment/Credit transactions confuse you. You may see these transactions if you’ve checked the Show System Entries checkbox. This is just our way of moving money from one category to another. Specifically, if you recorded a prepayment for a resident, when new charges come due, you’ll see Apply Prepayment transactions in their register. All that’s happened is the money was moved from the Resident Prepayment category to the category or categories that the tenant owed.

Once the desired transactions are listed on your screen, just click on a specific transaction to view the details. From there you can choose to make changes or delete the information entirely. (You won’t be able to delete system-generated monthly billing records.)

If the tenant’s billing is incorrect, use the Resident’s Lease page to make the necessary corrections. The system will make the appropriate billing adjustments when you save those corrections.

New On Your Screen

Due to Popular Demand…Setting NSF Limits

 

Due to popular demand, our wonderful programming department has added yet another useful feature. You may have noticed a new field on the Company Setup page called “Number of NSF checks to disable check payments”. You can find it at the bottom of the Preferences list (see circled area below).

 

This field is now used when entering payments on the Deposits/Receipts page (below). If the number of returned checks from a resident meets or exceeds this setting, the Deposits/Receipts page will not allow you to enter a check payment.

You can override this setting on a tenant-by-tenant basis using the Resident Information page. Simply select an individual occupant’s name on the Resident Lease page. From there, simply uncheck the checkbox that says “no check payments” (circled below). Point2 gives you the power to manage your processes your way.
