ARE YOU USING YOUR ONLINE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE CORRECTLY?Filed Under: Property Management Software Questions
Congratulations, you purchased an online property management software solution to help you run your rental property business! However, did you ever think that you could be using it incorrectly? Maybe you weren’t able to spend the extra money for the training, or maybe you did get training, but still don’t realize that you may not be using your Online Software to its full capabilities.
Using Online Property Management Software should help you run your business smoothly. Not cause more confusion and chaos! This is where Point2 Property Manager can help! Point2 Property Manager has what’s called “Role” based capabilities. This is what’s used in many Fortune 500 Companies today! These companies make sure that the specializations people have are being used and assigned appropriately when it comes to doing business online and with using their internal software.

When running an apartment building or single family home, there’s definitely a Property Manager and maybe a few others to support them. However, there’s also a need for an Accountant or Administrator to make sure the transactions are being recorded correctly.
In Point2 Property Manager, you can also have a Leasing Agent Role. This person would move tenants in and make sure the occupancy stays up. There is also a Maintenance Worker Role that gives the Maintenance Worker the ability to view service requests. The nice feature of this role is, if the Resident Portal is setup, they can receive emails and maintain efficiency out in the field by using a Smart Phone.
The Property Manager Role should be setup to make sure all requests are being completed and new applicants are being moved in. This role also gives them the ability to enter bills that are received while still being the overseer, making sure costs are kept low. The Accountant has the ability to pay the bills entered and handle the accounting side of the books, making sure they are correct and accurate.
If you are not using your Property Management Software similar to the capacity above, you could be forfeiting many of the benefits that the software could have on your bottom line. When people are not being utilized in their proper roles, it could be costing your company time and money. In Corporate America, some call it “wearing many hats”, but let’s face it, not everyone looks good in different hats.
Let’s get people in the correct roles so we can become more successful in our Property Management business!
Have you setup your roles and assigned them to your employees? Are you performing more than one role in your business? Please share your thoughts, comments, suggestions. We’d love to hear them!
