National Association of Residential Property ManagersFiled Under: Property Management Tips, Residential Property Management Industry
The National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM) is designed for real estate professionals who know the challenges of managing single-family and small residential properties. NARPM® offers a professional learning environment for owners of property management companies, property managers and their staff.
As a group, managers of small residential properties oversee billions of dollars worth of assets, yet have had little or no voice in such important matters as tax law, legal document requirements, accounting practices, insurance, building codes, zoning and utilities.
Prior to the inception of NARPM, there was no organization to represent this large group of property managers and their clients.
NARPM provides a trade organization for the residential property management industry. NARPM currently represents over 2,500 members comprised of real estate agents, brokers, managers and their employees.
DIY is a proud affiliate member of NARPM and we are always looking for opportunities to meet our clients. That’s why we’re excited to be headed to the National Association of Residential Property Managers’ Annual Convention & Trade Show October 13-15 in Seattle, Washington. Hope to see you there!

This is excellent information. We are property managers from Montreal, Canada. Do you know if there is an equivalent to NARPM in Canada? It would be practical for us to be part of a National Association and share property management tips with others. Regards.

The National Apartment Association (NAA) has a significant Canadian membership. However, NAA is targeted at property managers and owners of large residential properties with multiple rental units. You may want to check out the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). IREM is a property manager association based mainly in the United States and Canada and concentrates heavily on the education and training of its members.

Great blog. We were at the NARPM show in Seattle and it is amazing how much knowledge is passed along in these sessions.
I think the NARPM membership fee is like $200 or something like that. I would be the first to say that it is worth every single penny. Not only do these people help out with first hand experience, they treat each other like a family.
I heard a story in Seattle of a property manager who was sick and in the hospital for six weeks. Her fellow NARPM members each committed to giving up a day to man her office and make sure all of her phone calls were answered and kept her up to date. That is the kind of family that I want to be a part of in business.

I have been a NARPM member for over 15 years now. I can honestly say my membership with NARPM is the single biggest factor for the success of my property management company. The vast knowledge that is shared amongst the members is priceless. I have developed friendships with members from across the country.
The NARPM conference this year in Seattle was a huge success. It was a week long event with classes, speakers, and events to help further the development of NARPM members in the industry.
I have been to 7 national conferences across the country and countless regional events with property management education as the main focus.
If you are a property manager and want to further your success in the industry, I would absolutely look into joining this organization. You can visit the main website for more information.
